| International Date Line | The line of longitude 180 degrees opposite Greenwich, England. located in the Pacific that marks the date change. |

| Intertropical Convergence Zone | A band of low pressure that forms over the regions of the warmest waters and land masses in the tropics. |
| Intracoastal Waterway | Bays, rivers, and canals along the coasts connected so that vessels may travel without going into the sea. Commonly abbreviated ICW. |
| Inverter | An electronic device that converts low-voltage direct current (battery power) into 115-volt alternating current (household electric power). |
| Iron Sail | Slang for an engine on a sailboat. |
| Issinglass | The clear, soft plastic material used for dodger window panels. |
